Earmilk album walkthrough w/Conrad Hoyer - "Carbon represents what happened when I let go and mashed hardcore, industrial, strings, pads, chords, melodies and IDM glitches clicks, pops and beats into a breakcore shape - each song coming from a slightly different angle." Read More...

Glasswerk album review - " I found it engaging, interesting and at times even mesmerising, as if I was an aural adventurer on a journey through unchartered sounds." Read More...

Zap! Bang! REVIEW - "Meander retains a light and airy mood with the contradictory blasts of breaks, adding sophistication with track development." Read More...

Zap! Bang! INTERVIEW - "Even though it's not essentially new, I think there is still territory left to explore when it comes to melodic or atmospheric breakcore." Read More...

Vanguard album review - "Where the Metalheadz had some longeurs of drifting sound, interspersed with manic beat making, this stays on the front foot pretty much all the time; even where a more languid deep beat is carrying the track, there will be in-your-face beat-scratching and tearing going on." Read More...

Review Graveyard on Carbon - "There's enough diversity here for you to get a flavour of Meander's obvious talent and influences; not to mention to act as a backing track to your life no matter what you're doing. It's the sort of album you'd dig out and play full blast before going out for the night." Read More...

RELEASE DATE JULY 30th

Low Res Records is back, more diverse than ever, and staying ahead of the curve with 'Carbon' from Dutch artist Meander (Conrad Hoyer, aka Ophidian). His first full-length release on Low Res as Meander, 'Carbon' sets a high expressive standard with eight brand-new tracks as well as the four tracks from the 2008 Low Res release 'Dreaming in Reverse' (LOW 021), which was previously available only on 12" vinyl.

Hoyer's automated musical landscapes trap listeners in a Kubrickian maze of intricate, floor-shaking rhythms and tapestries of synthesizer explorations. Throughout the album, educated restraint meets uninhibited energy in a roller coaster of different textures and colors.

Hoyer is no stranger to music composition, having earned a Bachelor of Music Composition and Production degree from the Utrecht School of Arts in 2004. Since then, he has continued to expand and diversify his accomplishments, which now include studio engineering, mastering, and producing/composing for the video game industry.

Meander's debut release on Low Res, 'Dreaming in Reverse' (LOW 021) was designed explicitly to push the envelope as far as possible and was met with critical praise, sizzling hot sales and wide regard as his best work to date. The future is just beginning for the Netherlands' brightest young talent, and Low Res is proud to deliver his most ambitious effort to date as the harbinger of more diversity and great things to come from the label.

We love bub. He loves headphones. We always assumed it was Foghat he was listening to on his walkman. Limited edition, that means we only made a few. Most sizes available. 1 color front, 1 color inset print with a Low Res logo treatment that might look a bit like the Dawn of the Dead movie logo, not that anyone is comparing. Reversible. Two shirts in one, knucka.

An ongoing archival process and collection point for both current and vintage Low Res media. There's some laughable stuff up there already and it's all still a pretty new effort. Official event flyer archive and plenty of other stuff that probably won't have a reason to find it's way on to the official (mockery of a) website.

"...If you're familiar with either c64 or Low Res, you have a pretty good idea of what to expect. If you're not down with either, you're in for a full on crunchcore assault assembled by one of the more in tune with the music DJs in breakcore/hardcore. ."

[7:39 am] Lowest Moments, a mixed compilation of tracks on the Low Res label, mixed by C64. This is a mash-up of 26 tracks from the excellent Low Res in Detroit, mixing sounds of hardcore breakbeat, industrial, and speed-glitch, touching most of the major releases from the label's first ten years in operation.

[7:46 am] In the first four tracks on this, C64 has brought together label head Adjust, Venetian Snares, Bombardier, and I:Gor, all easily identifiable as Low Res artists and all classics in their own rights. A record like Lowest Moments makes me want to immediately purchase the entire back catalog. I'm going to resist this time, but so far this album has been all gravy.

"C64 hailing from Toronto is one of my super heroes. He keeps the faith in straight Breakcore music and invests time, money and heart blood in this music. As a Dj, musician and label chief he always searches the boundaries of electronic music and merges styles together to create something new.

Celebrating its ten-year anniversary Low Res Records, the pathbreaking pioneers of Breakcore from Detroit, links up with C64 and his wonderful Drosstik label to release a very special album."
